Our Instructors and Committee Members
Our club is powered by a dedicated group of volunteers — all passionate dog lovers who bring a diverse mix of personal and professional experience.
Our instructors work directly with you and your dog, using positive, reward-based methods to build confidence, clear communication and strong relationships between dogs and handlers.
Behind the scenes, our committee keeps the club running smoothly — overseeing governance and financial management, coordinating operations, maintaining the grounds and facilities, and supporting our trainers and members — while also planning and delivering events, managing memberships and communications, applying for grants and funding, and helping the club continue to grow for our community.
CHERIE
TRAINING COORDINATOR & INSTRUCTOR
Cherie’s favourite part of teaching at the club is watching dogs and their humans go from “what are we doing?” to working together as a team and having fun doing it. She’s learning alongside Butters, her big orange Toller, who is currently very enthusiastic about Scent Work (especially the treat part). Cherie has been part of the club for 13 years.
CORINNE
INSTRUCTOR
Corinne is one of our Family Dog Training Level 1 instructors. She also loves helping out with our Puppy Preschool classes. Corinne’s favourite part of teaching is seeing people have fun with their dogs and watching them learn to work successfully together as a team. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her beautiful red and white Boxer dog, Tommy.
EMMA
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Whether she’s navigating a Hoopers course or decoding a scent trail, Emma is at her happiest whenever she is working alongside her dog, Amaya. For Emma, the joy isn’t just in the ribbons or the successful runs—it’s in the community. She finds genuine inspiration in watching her classmates grow, cheering on every breakthrough and wagging tail as they master new skills together.
FARINA
CLUB SECRETARY & INSTRUCTOR
With her two Kelpie crosses, Farina’s favourite part of training is learning new things. Farina, Xander and Kato have tried a bit of everything—Agility, Rally, Tricks, Hoopers and have recently discovered the joy of Scent Work. When teaching Family Dog Training classes, Farina loves meeting new dogs and their humans and watching them grow in confidence as they learn together.
JO
VICE PRESIDENT &
TRIAL SECRETARY
Jo says she never wanted a dog, but like many families, decided COVID was a good time to welcome one into the family. One Aussie quickly became two, and now she couldn’t imagine her life without them. After finding BDTC, Jo discovered how much there was to learn. Fast forward a few years and she’s now obsessed with Agility, spending much of her spare time training, competing and helping run the club’s trials.
KERRIE
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Kerrie is enjoying learning the Family Dog Training curriculum—she is still working on remembering handler names and not just the dog names! Kerrie has completed all levels of Family Dog Training and Agility Foundations with her two Welsh Cardigan Corgis, Moz and Holly, who now both enjoy Hoopers as well. Holly also enjoys Agility Handling Skills and Moz is beginning Scent Work. Kerrie enjoys all the fun learning opportunities the club offers.
MIKE
COMMITTEE MEMBER
Mike has been a member of BDTC for 7 years with his Border Collie, Skipper. Mike and Skipper have competed in Jumping/Agility and continue to compete in RallyO currently at Excellent level. In recent times, they have joined the emerging dog sport of Hoopers and enjoy facilitating weekly casual sessions to introduce club members to this wonderful activity suitable for all dog breeds and abilities.
MOYA
INSTRUCTOR
Moya joined the club around 2016 to provide some family dog training for her dogs, Hunny and Gus. Gus had already done some agility training so they were super excited when the club started expanding into agility. Nowadays, Moya teaches Agility Foundations and Handlers at the club. She really enjoys watching how owners improve and evolve their handling skills, and how much their dogs enjoy the training. Sadly, Moya lost Hunny in 2022, but Gus and Moya continue to learn Scent Work at the club.
MURRAY
PRESIDENT & INSTRUCTOR
While Murray’s passion is dog agility, his main aim in any training is to see the confidence and connection between dogs and handlers grow and develop. He has been part of the club since 2014 and has learnt and worked with two dogs at the club, the much-missed Tess (Border Collie cross) and now Tilly (short haired Border Collie).
His main aim is to try to keep up with Tilly for as long as he can.
TARA
INSTRUCTOR & COMMITTEE MEMBER & SCENT WORK TRIAL SECRETARY
With her energetic Hungarian Vizslas, Tara has enjoyed attending the club since 2016 to find the sport that’s right for her dogs. Originally starting with Agility/Jumpers for the older boys, now her weekends are spent judging or competing in Scent Work.
